GUIDING PRIINCIPLES
SEA has formally adopted the following set of Guiding Principles for 2008. Each of the headings and sub-heading in this document can be added to and filled out on a continuous basis up to the the elections - a living document.
Suggestions for additions and changes are welcomed from members and any such will be raised at the next appropriate meeting of the Association.

SECHELT ELECTORS ASSOCIATION PRINCIPLES
Sechelt Electors Association (SEA) believes that its candidates are free to initiate and support their own platform for the District of Sechelt provided that any platform is consistent with the Principles of the Sechelt Electors Association. While adhering to the Principles, the candidates are free to develop new policies and visions for the residents and to vote as their conscience dictates.
SEA is dedicated to the following:
1 A Sechelt Council that responds to the citizens of the community while respecting their wishes as expressed in Official Community Plans and the Visioning Statement.
This commitment will be demonstrated by enthusiastically encouraging wide participation in public forum processes and tailoring development to fit the OCPs
2 A Sechelt Council that operates in an open manner at all times.
This commitment will be demonstrated by conducting Council business in open meetings whenever possible and minimizing in camera sessions
3 A Sechelt Council that ensures that the unique nature of Sechelt is protected as it develops into the future.
This commitment means having a vision of the future that precludes developing Sechelt into just another typical suburb
4 A Sechelt Council that promotes a healthy environment
5 A Sechelt Council that promotes diversified economic growth in the spirit of the Visioning Plan
